"Mandatory History in Stage 4 includes the unit of study, Indigenous Peoples, Colonisation and Contact History, through which students explore the nature and impact of colonisation and contact between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Australia and in one other location. In Stage 5 students study the shared history of Australia in the twentieth century, including a major focus on the changing nature of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal relations. Mandatory Geography in Stage 5 includes the study of Aboriginality and the Australian identity, concepts and experiences of citizenship for Australian Aboriginal communities and strategies for reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. The Aboriginal Studies Stage 6 Syllabus builds on this knowledge and understanding." -- (Page 6)
